Moms are reaching out and helping other moms…

Through our Military/Civilian Swap page here on HHC. It’s very simple. Military wives post what they need or what they wish for, and civilian wives donate what they have or what they can buy . Recently, an army wife posted a need for a snowsuit for her baby girl. A civilian wife read her post and fulfilled her need.

Generous civilian wife,

I don’t know who you are but I wanted to send you a letter to let you know what a saving grace you are. Because of you, my daughter will be warm this winter. It fits her perfectly and I now feel better taking her out in this cold weather. I wish there was a way to pay you back for your generosity because I feel a thank you just isn’t enough. Here is a picture of my baby wearing it. She just looks so good in it. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!*

Signed,

Grateful army wife

Watch TONIGHT as USAA Presents America United in Support of Our Troops!

unitedusaa.jpg

Since 1922, USAA has been dedicated to serving the financial services needs of America’s military families. They’ve also looked for opportunities to provide even wider-ranging support to those who serve our country.

In keeping with that tradition, USAA is honored to present America United in Support of our Troops, an all-star tribute to those serving our country. The star-studded show airs Sunday, Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. (8 p.m. Central Time) on ABC . Performers and celebrities slated to appear include Toby Keith, Snoop Dogg, ZZ Top, Jessica Simpson, Janet Jackson, Clint Black, comedians Carlos Mencia and Kathy Griffin, and many more.

For generations, top entertainers have performed in the U.S. and overseas for our troops in wartime and peacetime. Now, the tradition continues for a new generation of talent and viewers with this two-hour special.

Do you know how much your husband really makes?

I hear wives complaining all the time about how little their husbands earn, compared to their civilian counterparts. I gripe too. I believe our troops deserve better pay. However, you need to look past the LES and take into consideration the total value of the military compensation package. We do get a lot of non-cash perks like FREE healthcare, FREE legal services, FREE financial counseling services, and FREE special needs services. We also get great tax breaks. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the average active duty service member receives a compensations package worth almost $100,000! Take advantage of the benefits, they add up fast! The Military Channel Seeks Personal Videos

The Military Channel asked us to help them spread the word by passing this info along to our military family members and friends.  Please spread the word. We ask for your support by passing along this message to fellow members of the military, friends and colleagues. With your help, the Military Channel can continue to be a voice for the troops.

What’s it really like to be stationed overseas or live in a combat zone? What is a typical day really like for our Armed Forces? The Military Channel is seeking personal videos from members of the U.S. Military to let soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines tell their story directly to viewers.

Real-life moments captured on film by service members will be broadcast on the Military Channel as part of a new on-air programming initiative. Servicemen and women who brought a camcorder with them on a recent deployment, or those who currently have a camera with them on the frontlines, can submit their videos directly to the Military Channel.

Personal videos can be submitted online here, or mailed to the address below. Or email mywardiary@discovery.com for more information.
