Armed Forces Voter Week Starts Today!

August 31 to September 7, 2008 is designated Armed Forces Voters Week.!

The purpose of this week is to encourage all service members and their families to register to vote and request an absentee ballot, if needed. Commanders and Voting Assistance Officers (VAOs) will motivate and encourage all eligible citizens to participate in the remaining state primaries and vote in the November 4, 2008 general election.

Activities scheduled during this week include voting programs explaining the procedures to register and how to obtain an absentee ballot from your jurisdiction of voting residence. Simple, step-by-step instructions on how and where to register to vote can be found on the Federal Voting Assistance Program website .
