The Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education® (AFCPE®) in association with the National Military Family Association (NMFA) and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation is pleased to announce applications are being accepted for the Military Spouse Fellowship for the Accredited Financial Counselor Program. This program will provide up to 200 military spouses with the education necessary to enter the financial counseling career field.

The fellowship covers the costs associated with completing the Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) training and testing. Upon successful completion of the program and required practicum, the participant will be awarded the Accredited Financial Counselor designation from AFCPE.Many employers such as credit unions, financial aid offices, and community housing agencies need well-trained, ethical and caring financial counselors to meet the increasing demand for financial counseling services. Military spouses can fill this need while building a rewarding career that is flexible to the demands of the military family lifestyle.Click herefor application instructions!

Americana Painted Flower Pots

This is a fun and easy craft to do with your children this month. It’s also a great way to show your patriotic pride.

Supplies:

  • Any size clay pot (the cost for a 4″ pot is approximately $.50)
  • Potting mix or soil
  • Art paints, use an exterior paint if you plan to use your pot outdoors (available at discount and hobby stores) - approx. cost $.80 each
  • Craft paint brush
  • Pencil
  • Star stencils (optional)
  • Newspaper or old cloth
  • Clear spray enamel (available in the spray paint section of your discount or paint supply store) - approx. cost $2.00
  • Plant or seeds
  • Your imagination

Convention Center on Saturday, 14 June 2008 and include an elegant evening of dining, dancing and entertainment.

Operation Purple Camps  offer a free week of summer fun for military kids with parents who have been, are currently, or will be deployed. This year, 100 weeks of camps will be held at 62 locations in 37 states and territories. Campers from all service branches will gather together to experience a memorable week of fun and adventure with a focus on learning coping skills to better deal with a parent’s deployment. Registration ends May 5th.
